Deposit-Hold Program

Reserve the hard-to-find specimen trees your project depends on — and lock today's price — weeks or months before you take delivery. Place a deposit, and we tag, hold, and stage your trees until you're ready.
Rows of field-grown specimen shade trees in containers at Tree Source

Tree Source's Deposit-Hold Program lets landscape professionals reserve specific material for future delivery with a deposit — most often the hard-to-find specimen trees a job hinges on. When a project depends on a particular variety, a larger caliper, or a specimen you can't count on re-sourcing, a deposit takes it off the market and sets it aside for you, at the price you lock in today. Pair it with a B&B tree allocation or plant sourcing request to secure an entire job ahead of the season.

The exact trees are pulled and physically flagged as yours. Not promised — reserved.
Plan ahead with confidence
Hold for 90, 120, or 180 days and take delivery when your job site is ready for it.
Why use it

Hold the Trees You Can’t Risk Losing

The material most worth reserving is the material you can't count on finding twice — specimen-grade and larger-caliper trees, specific cultivars, and seasonal stock that sells out at the peak. Demand for these outpaces supply, and the best specimens get spoken for first. A deposit hold takes the exact trees your job needs off the market and sets them aside for you, at today's price. No scrambling for substitutes when the schedule hits, and no surprise increases between now and delivery. You decide what to hold, for how long, and we handle the rest.

Step by step

Reserve Your Material in Three Steps

1
Tell us what to hold
Share the trees, varieties, and quantities your project needs with your sales rep, or send us your list.
2
Place your deposit
Choose a 90-, 120-, or 180-day hold and pay 30–50% on just the material you are holding. Once it clears, we flag it and set it aside.
3
Take delivery on your schedule
Your price stays locked for the hold. When you are ready, your deposit comes off the balance and we ship or stage it farm-direct.
Good to know

How the Deposit Works

Pay only on what you hold
Reserving 3 of 10 line items? Your deposit is calculated on those 3 — the rest of your order is unaffected.
It credits your balance
At pickup or shipment, your deposit is applied straight to the balance of the held material.
Your price is held
Pricing is locked for the original hold period. Extending later with a new hold may be subject to current pricing.
Change orders welcome
Need to adjust held material? No problem, subject to availability. If the change increases the deposit, we collect the difference.
Nothing held on a handshake
Inventory is reserved once your deposit is received and cleared — verbal agreements and quotes do not secure material.
Built for any size order
There is no minimum to participate, but the larger the order, the more a hold protects your availability and price.
At the end of the hold

Your Options When the Hold Ends

About 10 days before your hold expires, your Tree Source rep reaches out so you can choose how to proceed:

Take shipment
Pay the remaining balance and we ship or stage for pickup. Charge-account customers can bill the balance to their account; COD balances are paid in full before material ships.
Release material
Release the held material back to Tree Source. The deposit is forfeited and the inventory returns to availability.
Start a new hold
Place a new deposit to keep holding. Pricing may change, and the new deposit replaces the previous one.
Plan ahead, protect cash flow
Lock the material now, take delivery when the job is ready.

A deposit secures your plants and your price without paying for the full order up front. For qualified customers, flexible terms on the balance make planning ahead even easier on your working capital.
